Martinez to stay

Well, he is not Van Gorder, that's for sure because I think most assistants would jump at the chance. Coach in your hometown, access to FL recruits (what FSU, FL, Miami don't want is still pretty darn good) and fairly low expectations.

Other quick observations:
- As I suspected, the job was his if he wanted it. Schools usually don't let themselves get turned down in the media because it makes the next guy look second rate. He was a cut above the other candidates and consider this is a good year to be job hunting in the NCAA.

- I had already considered it done and in my mind, hired Muschamp. I thought back to comments that a) he and Bobo are really close meaning at least in part that he's on board with the Mark Richt culture and b) his response to why he hasn't worked at UGA was that they've never asked. I think he wants to come here and may very well do that one day. If and when Martinez moves on, there would be nothing better than having home grown talent to ensure some continuity, provided they're good.

- "I look forward to continue being part of the building process that's going on at Georgia. I think we have a lot to look forward to here." The only thing we have to look forward to is a national championship. The only 'building' yet to be built is a dynasty. With these comments and based on the roster and recruiting, it is clear that the Georgia coaches do not see us as having 'arrived'. That this is only the beginning, and why speak of looking forward to anything other than a NC? Say what you will about the liklihood of any of these things happening but it is clear the coaches think we've only just begun.

I think it's a pretty strong statment from a staff when they say things like that.....I like it! I think we will be fine.....I just keep think about the two times we held Tech to a field goal on short yards.....we're going to be fine with Willie.....I still think it takes at least three years to be firmly set in a new system....but that's just me.
