Quote II

"The Devil just loves to see a church full of upstanding, uptight, upright people who would never consider weeping and repenting at the feet of Jesus."

True. What the world really needs is to see the Church, which is made up of people who have been given the righteousness of Christ and declared righteous through repentance, living as the hands and feet and mouthpieces (Body) of Christ in the world. Then they, "would see [their] good works and [as a result]glorify God who is in heaven."
As one who works with children, I have concluded that most people see the church as a building, rather than the people of God. Literally, you have to re-educate kids, and show them that the church is people, not a place. I am also convinced that their parents may know the truth philosophically, but their understanding of the Body of Christ is not seen in the way believers live. Perhaps we would serve Christendom by renaming the places we gather, so as to get back to the pure meaning of "church." Hypothetically, what could we call our meeting places?

I don't need to look very far to see a person who had to have "Church" re-defined......only as far as a mirror.....to me growing up church meant Rehoboth in Tucker.....that physical place was "Church" and what went on there was Christianity....now as I was young it was no big deal becuase I had RA's with Jack and Trent Hudson....sing a longs with Martha Fredrick and her lap harp or whatever that thing was called...and of course His Kids with the great Fran Thrilkill(sp)....but as I got older I have to say that it really messed me up.....Rehoboth had been my reality as far as Church...so in my mind it was a place to keep those dirty sinners out of...and when we would have pizza blasts and we were told to invite our un-saved friends it was all about keeping them out of hell and not at all about them building a relationship with Christ....this was evident when one would pray the sinners prayer (which at that time I was sure was the ONLY way someone could be saved) and go forward and then would be given zero discipleship....So, I agree...our "Chruches" have been a big problem because they have produced a certain type of Christian.....I'm all for renaming them.......maybe PUB's?
