Be Careful What You Wish For

Some of you may be aware of this, but in case you're not, my boy Tucker has become a football nut. This translates into some very fun, funny, and sometimes, strange conversations. He's 5 and 1/2 and to me, this just doesn't seem normal.

Some funny moments are when he says things that are approximately "football talk" but they're a little off - slight misuses of terms or slang. For example, we were on PS2 and had a small lead with the clock winding down, rather than kill the clock, I told him we would "go for the jugular". We threw a bomb and effectively put the game away. PA Toss in Ace Big has become the Jugular play. When he wants to pass it long, he calls it "the jugular" or "let's jug it up." There are other examples.

Last night, though, he really freaked me out. We're watching the Super Bowl and he says, "Daddy, I hope we beat the Cowboys." It's pretty common for him to randomly say things like this and he still doesn't quite get it that in college and pro, the season is over, so I say ...

Me: T, who are you talking about? (I'm a little frustrated because I've explained to him many times that the season is over.)
T: I'm talking about Georgia, when we play them next season.
Me: Oh! That's right T, we open with them next season.
T: They're going to be tough.
Me: Uh huh.
T: They beat Alabama in the bowl game.
Me: (now, he has my full attention) What T?
T: They beat Alabama in the bowl game. 34-31.
Me: Was that the score on playstation?
T: No, that was the real game.
Me: (I look at Heather, she gets up to check the scores) T, what was the Auburn/Nebraska score?
T: 17-14
Heather: He's right, it was 34-31.
Me: Come here T. (we go into office where I pull up UGA scores) Auburn?
T: 37-15
Me: S. Carolina?
T: I don't know because I had to go night-night.
Me: UAB?
T: 34-0
Me: Colorado?
T: 14-13

Anyway, it went on like this. He missed Vandy final score, he said 22 to something. Got the MSU score. The ones he didn't know, he wasn't awake for.

Anyone else find this a little unsettling? Or maybe you want to take him to Vegas with you? Like the Rainman?

Tucker must have a photographic memory. He is the next Stephen Hawkings. I would not tell too many others about this; there is no telling what the government would like to do with the mind power of T. It probably is too late. I am sure the gov is already monitoring the Pea Ridge Forum.
