So it seems........the debate has started in the State of Georgia.........will we give in to Satan and allow sales of alcoholic beverages on Sunday? So do we find it a little silly that without a doubt the "Christians" in this State and around the south will surface with a fervor over something that by biblical accounts is not even a sin (that being the consumption of alcohol)? Whether or not the bill ever passes is of little concern to me....if I want it on Sunday I could simply by it on Saturday.....But I am very interested in what I am sure will be a polarizing topic in churches in the south for the next little while.......And I hold out hope for all the unintended comedy that is sure to ensue.
The sad part?? Our church leaders will sound the trumpets for something like this.....while letting things that are much, much more important to the Kingdom fall by the wayside. Again, Christians will be known for what they are against..........and not what they are for.

Tell you what I find curious about this. I was at a Chamber meeting where this was discussed. Conservative, business leader types. Wait! Those labels are in direct contradiction! And I think it is more than a little humorous. The business community calls for the alcohol to be available, the far right is socially against it. What happens when the two intersect?
As a card-carrying evangelical, it is encumbent upon me to endorse pro-business. Capitalism is king, and forces that come against it, be they environmental conservation, school tax, whatever, they're to be fought. Here's the confusion: am I more pro-business than anti-booze?
The pro-business evangelical would want alcohol available on Sunday because this helps our small businessmen. The anti-booze evangelical feels guilty about even thinking this, but he's torn. Do I vote for capitalism, as much a part of the religious right's platform as anything, or do I vote for the extra-Biblical condemnation of alcohol?
These are the times that try the simpleton's soul.
