A Familiar Feeling

I'm getting that ol' familiar feeling on the GA running back situation, and I don't know if it's finally going to come to pass, or if, like before, we're going to be disapointed.

Thomas Brown, from all accounts, IS 100% and his head, as in years past, is exactly where it needs to be. Pound for pound, he is the strongest member of the team, looks like he will be returning kickoffs (if PS2 is at all realistic, the kicking game will be transformed with the new kick from the 30 rule), and knows the offense from a tactical standpoint more than any other back.

Meanwhile, Lump is working his tail off, saw him at a fund raiser and he looked small, but cut. He won the conditioning award, signifying he is not going to let TB win the position outright, nor give way to the frosh, Moreno.

And speaking of, Moreno continues to turn heads in practice.

Now what does that mean for us? Underachievement and disgruntled seniors? Or consistently putting up 200 yards per game, spreading the wealth? OR, finding a go to guy, which would also cause some friction, but might be the best answer for this team? I don't know, but much seems to hinge on an inexperienced offensive line, including the weakest we've been at TE in some time, and a desire to put 4 receiver sets on the field to utilize Stafford more. With all the talk of WR play (and that has me excited, don't get me wrong) and the golden QB, the way the RB situation shakes out will determine the kind of season our Dawgs have. Ball control will be more important than ever with a thin secondary and inexperienced DE, LBs. Our D probably has more questions since 2001, and that will make me more inclined than ever to call on our coaches, to "Run the ball". Run it until they stop us, and if the line gels, they won't be stopping these hungry tailbacks.

I meant to post on this yesterday and didn't get a chance.......I'm hoping that we find a way.....because I don't think what we've done the last few years has been ideal, in my opinion. I Love TB and Lump...always have...and I want to see those guys do well....but to be honest...my hope is that Know-Mo blows up and it becomes a one horse show....I would actually be fine if any of them blew up....I just want one of them to be the guy.

It makes me nervous to have so much talent in the back field because my fear that in trying to share the load we hamstring ourselves.....on the other hand I am sure plenty of teams wish they had the stable of horses we have.
