Pea Ridge On My Mind

Since my beloved Shamrock High no longer rises on Mt. Olive (yes, the name of the street) and has been replaced by Shamrock Middle I went looking for reunion info. and found a page of alumni ramblings. I didn't know one person on the site, but there was a brief discussion of our beloved Pea Ridge and it's origin on the site. Below is where it starts, and it kicks up again a page or so later. I chose not to invite them here, but you are welcome to go there if you have time to kill.

That is some good stuff right there......I remember hearing it called Pea Ridge form time to time when I was little...but Toom was the one that brought it to my attention back when we were in college....I do remember the waffle house sign that welcomed all to Pea Ridge......I also remember the night that Toom made time stand still at that very waffle house.....

Pea Ridge can not be defined by a boundary. Oh, you can try to confine it south to North DeKalb mall, Northeast to Spaghetti Junction, Maybe 29 to Rockbridge and 78 as far as the Rock. But Pea Ridge is bigger than that. For Pea Ridge is a state of mind.

Big - "She has slept with everyone in Pea Ridge"

Small - "Geez, you'd think he's never been outside Pea Ridge."

New - "Have you seen what all's going on in Pea Ridge?"

Old - "They really need to do something about that Pac & Sac in Pea Ridge."

Even though the Shamrock site is before my time, I got a kick out of reading it.
