We are # 4 in the AP...our last real hope and # 4 in the Coach's poll. I would suspect that the Harris poll will do the same and there is no chance the computers will look poorly on the extra win by OU and LSU and we'll be jumped there too. Honestly, I hope OU is there before LSU. I do not want to play Hawaii in the Sugar is LSU is in the big show. They would beat O. State...but so would everyone else in the Top 5. This sux. At least I won' t be on pins and needles the rest of the day.

Yeah....worst case for us.....It does nothing for us....if we beat them everyone says we should have.....if we loose then we didn't deserve a shot.....loose-loose,
Turns out we wouldn't even be in the discussion in a Plus-1 format either...as they placed us 5th in the final BCS rankings. I have not been a proponent of a playoff so far...but I might begin to reconsider. I don't know how...but I will think about it and see what I could come up with. Having 6 conference champs and 2 "at-large" is too simple and I don't see any fewer complaints that way. For instance....Even if there were an 8 team playoff this year...Hawaii would have deserved a chance to play...kind of....but they could argue their case pretty efficiently...and everyone is in love with USC again. UGA would have a good chance of being left out. This leaves you with having to use a BCS-style system to determine the 8....and you will still have issues.
Everyone loving USC is ticking me off as well. They stumble into a conference championship and look very poor in their final game (not that many actually watched the game...just looked at the final score) and too many people keep saying that USC and OU are the only two teams with a gripe. UGA is punished because it plays in the best conference and the toughest Division in the nation. Just because we tie Tenn (who deserved to go to the SEC Champ. even though they stumbled in) we are penalized. Imagine this scenario and tell me what you think would happen. Just imagine that South Florida had beaten WV (which they did) and only lost one other game all year to an Auburn team (hypothetical here...I know they beat AU). If WV had only lost one game to S. Florida and had beaten Pitt...would anyone question their place in the title game? No. Everyone would say...they tied for the Big East...even though they lost the head to head. UGA did just that in tying for the SEC east and then got left out of the mix. No one would doubt our place in the mix had we played and beaten LSU....I just don't understand how so many dismiss us when we didn't get that chance. Yes, it was our fault...but we are still getting penalized for playing in a conference that has a championship game.
Here is what I have been saying for years...so I'll repeat it for this discussion. If Conference championships are going to play into the equation...all the BCS conferences should have to have a championship game. Period.
Obviously it played into the equation...and yet O. State did not get penalized for sitting out a week while UGA did. Penalizing teams for playing in a big, strong conference is crap. Once again...this sux. At least we are not playing Va. Tech again.
I do guess that the Rose and Fiesta never had a shot at selecting UGA as the Sugar had a "locked" team (SEC Champ) that made it to the NC game. The Rose also had one "locked" team there...but still had the Pac-10, so by my understanding the Sugar had first choice to replace their "locked" team. Maybe they will discuss the order at some point....but that is my guess as to what happened.
One other thing...how cool would it have been if OU had been in the Title sending LSU to the Sugar. The Fiesta selects Kansas or Mizzou as their replacement for OU. The Rose then takes Illinois again and then the Orange takes WV (I think they were locked, right). That would give the Sugar the next shot to select and what if they picked UGA. How cool would that be??? Is that even possible or is there a rule against it?
The BCS is a joke. UGA has a week off and falls to 5. Ohio State has 2 weeks off and moves up 2 spots to number 1. UGA comes into the Sugar Bowl with the 21st toughtest schedule, while the Rainbows come in with the 118th toughest schedule; that's out of 120 teams total. I'm really impressed by your undefeated year.
This is a slap in the face. It's a lose-lose for UGA. They could win by 100 points and get 0 respect for it. Heck, they may even fall in the final BCS rankings since no one will be impressed win or lose.
