We dodged a bullet, and the Old Ball Coach had us dead to rights. If not for Rennie Curran and his monstrous hit, and Brian Mimbs and his 70+ yard punt the season would be over. Yes, with UGA's schedule one loss might not be a knock-out punch, but SC lost to Vandy last week.
I will say it. "UGA should not receive 1 first place vote this week." Assuming the scores stay on track tonight (Sunday) it should be USC, OU, Missou, and then maybe UGA. BYU and Penn St. deserve a mention in the top ten.
UT looks horrible for losing to UCLA who, today got crushed by BYU. Auburn looks to be a joke with their 3-2 score mid-way thru the 4th(now a final, hah, hah). Alabama, UF, and LSU look formidable, but UGA is far from meeting the pre-season expectations.
My concerns:
Tripp Chandler can't catch the ball, and throwing to him is more dangerous than just throwing the ball away and into the 4th row. Sit him, period.
Stafford did not go thru his progression much today from his 1-2-3 receivers. He chose rather to force the ball into coverage or to throw deep into double coverage. Twice MoMass was wide-open for big gains, but he was the 2nd or 3rd option and therefore, not a consideration.
No pass rush: The pressure just isn't there. Either we don't have the guys, or we are just not choosing to put the pressure on.
Secondary: The sometimes strong DBs have spent entire quarters looking like a powder puff squad. Blown coverages resulting in TDs have occurred in all 3 games. This may get us by C. Michagan and GSU but it won't win the SEC East.
Penalties: Roughing the passer, pass interference, and off-sides calls have killed us. How many 3rd and longs have become 1st and 10s due to our lack of discipline?
Kick-offs: Inconistent and horrible.
Following that rant I must say that I am being somewhat hyper-critical due to very high expecations for this season. ASU will be a huge test for us, and I cannot wait for us to break out and do what I believe we can do. We have a long way to go, and much we need to get better at before I, a fervent fan, can insist, that we deserve to be considered #1, or even #2.
I'm still committed and on the wagon, and Spurrier is a huge obstacle that has been successfully overcome, but I have serious concerns after game 3.
On the flip-side, how bad is the PAC-10 this year? UCLA destroyed by BYU, Wash. horrible, CAL lost to Maryland, Oregon needed 2 OTS to beat Purdue, Stanford lost to TCU, Baylor beat WSU, and Zona is losing to New Mexico. If we can smack around ASU then we will have a great case against USC and their sorry schedule.
Go Dawgs!

I counted three tds that we left on the field....Dunham HAS to bring that catch in.....if Samuel runs N/S that's a td and he should of caught the deep pass in the corner as well.
We looked like pooh and I HATED our game plan on O.....that being said...we made them look better than they are...those three plays and it not even close.
On the penalties thing....I understand that it could cost us big....but if my memory serves me correctly, LSU in '07 and UF in '06 led the SEC in penalty yards (against). I wonder if Richt has taken some of the emphasis off after noticing the same thing the past two years.
A lot to digest, and I agree with about all.
1. Polls, schmolls. We live in the SEC where, by the way, half the top 10 plays.
2. Saturday might turn out to be good for us. The Tennessee game was a massive wake up call. If this game has the same effect, look out. We're not playing up to our capabilities.
3. Here's another. We were outcoached (Bobo should take the SC game off each year bc he looks completely lost) and outplayed and guess what? We won. SC might've just played the game of their year and they mustered one td. We might've just played our turd of the year and if you get the turd out of your system, you tend not to stink so bad the rest of the way.
4. ASU is preparing, even now, for a massive beating, courtesy of a superior team from the south, a little bit pissed at the disrespect, earned or otherwise.
Quickly: Agree on Chandler. He was a major liability on Saturday.
5. Why did it seem our O personnel is never right? We run a WR screen, a good choice, cept we run it to Tony Wilson??? We run the wheel to ... our 17 year old frosh? Then Samuel is in again on the screen - you'll recall, he didn't get in the end zone, we got a penalty and had to settle for 3. On BOTH plays, if #24 is in, Knowshon scores and is dancing on their heads before they know what happened. Poor, poor, POOR strategic management.
At times, it was almost as if the coaches thought we were still playing Georgia Southern, the way they seemed to be experimenting with the offense.
And we finally do step up and start to run the ball a little and we didn't stay patient. Bobo has almost always been great about staying patient with the run, but against SOS, he loses his mind and just starts throwing it like we're down 20.
6. Stafford's timing was off and it started with the Chandler drops. He didn't play his best but then again, coaching.
7. We don't have the pass rush from the outside yet but #42 sure looked good. And there was NOTHING going on up the middle with them running the ball.
8. that's the worst our secondary has looked in a long time. But again, it almost seemed like they weren't in the right scheme. R. Brown looked kinda freshmen-ish at times but when Allen is getting burned, I start to think the problem is more in the scheme.
9. That was a BS late hit call on Evans.
10. I agree they overachieved and we underachieved but i also think they're better than they showed against VAndy. Also don't forget, they HAD to win this game (like Tennessee last year), they had 2 extra days to prepare, and they still lost.
