Where to start?

It is hard to find much positive to say about Saturday. Important in all that, was the 'feeling' that was in the air. Juice and I discussed it, it was like the football world was set on its ear starting on Thursday and we played a sad part in the drama.

That being said, a worthy goal here (and I'm not saying we're eliminated from NC contention, only that right now, we're not that caliber of a team - heck, this time last year, we looked about 6-6, so that could change) is to get to Atlanta. I thought this would be a good starting point. Let's look at the standings and schedules, along with a predicted finish.

EAST CONF. W-L OVERALL W-L
Vanderbilt 2-0 4-0 - Auburn, MSU, UGA, FL, Kentucky, Tennessee; 4-4 finish
Kentucky 0-0 4-0 - Alabama, USC, Ark, Florida, MSU, UGA, VU, UT; 3-5
South Carolina 0-2 3-2 - Ole Miss, Kentucky, LSU, Tennessee, Arkansas, Florida; 2-6
Tennessee 0-2 1-3 - UGA, MSU, Alabama, USC, Vandy, KY; 3-5

If these predictions are even close, it then comes down to ...

Georgia 1-1 4-1 - UT, VU, LSU, UF, UK, AU
Florida 1-1 3-1 - Ark, LSU, UK, UGA, Vandy, USC

To us to have a PRAYER, we have to beat Florida. Aside from UGA, I only see one loss there. I know, they just lost to Ole Miss, but we can't count on that to happen. Besides, a win over UGA would mean they would have to lose TWICE more and while they may lose to LSU, I don't see it.

However, we beat Florida, and they have 2, possibly 3 losses. We would have to lose at least 2 more, and I don't think we lose to both LSU and Auburn.

What I'm saying is, the Florida game is as important as we thought it was, maybe more, as the rest of the East falls by the wayside. Looking WAY ahead, how sweet would it be to get another shot at the Tide with them undefeated? That could happen.

Alabama: Kentucky, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Ark St, LSU, MSU, Auburn

These things are possible. The SEC is well within our reach and capabilities, even the big prize is still very much alive. Just have to hope the Alabama game and week off have the same effect the Tennessee game did last year.

I thought I was watching the WVU Bowl Game all over again. It was as if Saban recruited Steve Slaton to come to Alabama to dominate us once more. We came in with a horrible game plan, dug a huge hole, and fought back to almost overcome the damage.

The half time adjustments were fantastic. We shut them down completely for the better part of the half, and the offensive play calling improved dramatically. How can we practice all week leading into a game like this and be caught so flat-footed, yet find a sure-fire remedy in 20 minutes at half-time?

Just a few observations: (maybe I should just copy/paste from my previous posts)

PENALTIES: negated a drive-stopping fumble....resulting in 7 more points and overwhelming momentum for Alabama.
O-LINE: Stafford does not trust his O-line to have his back. He was jittery in the pocket and abandoned it early, resulting in underthrown passes from being on the run.
KICKING: horribly inconsistent
SECONDARY: no blown coverages this week; improvement but no flashes of greatness.
Michael Moore drops 2 when he was wide-open, but catches 2 in heavy traffic???
COACHING: First round goes to Saban. I'm with T, I believe we can take them in the SEC Championship.
