Conversations with Children

Occupations

Dad: So, Annie what do you want to be when you grow up?

Annie (3): Hmmm. I want to be ... a Mommy.

Dad: Oh, that's great. Tucker what about you?

Tucker (5): I want to be a Daddy.

Dad: Oh. But how will you pay for your house? What will you do to make money?

Tucker: I want to work in a bank.

Annie: I want to ... hmmm. Actually, I don't want to do anything. I want to be a mommy.

Residence

Dad: Where do you want to live?

Tucker: I want to live next door to you.

Annie: Hmmm. I want to live with Tucker.

Kids

Dad: How many kids do you want?

Tucker: I want 2

Dad: 2 boys, 2 girls or one of each?

Tucker: A boy and a girl.

Dad: What will you name them?

Annie: You can name them...

Tucker: No Annie! I get to name them. I have to think about that one.

Annie: I want 3. 2 girls and a boy.

Dad: What will you name the boy?

Annie: Daddy! I already telled you!

Dad: Hamilton?

Annie: Yes!

Tucker: I would name the boy Caleb. (either a prophetic statement honoring future Heisman winner Caleb King or homage to some mythical neighborhood kid who can throw a baseball really far)

Dad: And the girls?

Annie: Genevieve and ... hmmm ... Genevieve and Larry!
