I'm Sorry Sermon via FBC Sugar Hill

Just listened to the "I'm Sorry Sermon" from the Pastor at FBC Sugar Hill.

Music and drama aside (had to wade through those), I think he says some things that aren't usually heard; much of which I agree with. The ajc is spinning it as an admission by the church that we are essentially wrong on the homosexuality issue. For folks who just read headlines, their comment will either be, "It's about time those Bible-thumpers were straightened out," or "That pastor has abandoned the Bible." Neither of which would be true.

I have met Richard M. Lee (not the Richard G. Lee we all know), but my aim is not to defend or blast him. His message, especially toward the middle and end makes some really strong points with which I believe the PRF will strongly agree. He makes the Gospel and it's message of healing and love of highest importance, while putting politics and attacks against the sins of the world aside as they erect barriers that hinder the furtherance of the Gospel.

While not always the case, most churches welcome the hurting, the needy, and the lost sinner and recognize that the grace of God extends to them as it has to us. However, we have a huge perception issue with the world. They think that every church is a Hagee, Dollar, or Osteen. If I go there, they will pound me, shake me down, or blow smoke up my skirt.

Listen in, because I'd love your to hear your take on what he said.
