And it is only July...

The Stafford / Tebow comparisons are probably going to last until well after the two have left college. There has been quite a lot of qb talk in the last couple days.

- Get ready to hear this quote often as bulletin board material for anyone facing the Gators. Urban Meyer called TT "the greatest player of our era". You can imagine the play this is getting on the UGA blogosphere. Already being shortened to GPOOE as if everyone has heard about this one, this is sure to be replayed during the course of the year. Just imagine, Asher Allen, "It felt good to get an interception, then juke the GPOOE on my way to the end zone." Or Jeff Owens: "On this play, they double teamed me, yet I was still able to knock the GPOOE on his A$$." More later, I'm sure.

- Anyone catch Herbstreit last night? He is at the Elite 11 Camp out west somewhere. On Stafford: "...hard for me to imagine a better looking physical specimen. He may be the best quarterback and the first pick in NFL Draft if he decides to leave early." Mark May had no comment.

- By the way, of 11 qbs invited to the camp, 2 of them are UGA commits. Aaron Murray, the number 1 prospect out of the state of Florida of all places, is impressing.

- And TT may be the GPOOE but at least one SEC coach (not MR) thinks Stafford is better now. From ESPNs Chris Low...

"The 2007 Heisman Trophy winner wasn't one of the seven unanimous selections announced on the coaches' preseason All-SEC team. Remember, coaches can't vote for their own players, so somebody other than Urban Meyer didn't vote for Tebow on the first team.

Georgia's Matthew Stafford was the other quarterback to receive a first-team vote, and I'm one of those who thinks that Stafford is better than his numbers have shown the first two years. Eventually, that will bear itself out in the NFL draft."

It is going to be a fun season, if we can just manage to live through it all.
