Just two weeks left! In two weeks, we won't know a whole lot more about these Dawgs, but we'll at least get to discuss a few things. Here's a list of questions I hope will be asked after the opener.
1. Was it appropriate for Richt to let deLaureal throw the team's 6th touchdown pass, especially since it was already 70-0?
2. How many single game records did Moreno break and is Caleb truly the better back?
3. Was A.J. Green conceived by human means?
Other questions you'd like to see asked???
II. Left Tackle
“All the guys we mentioned yesterday have a legitimate shot at playing left tackle,” Richt said. ”There’s (Josh) Davis, Kiante (Tripp), (Clint) Boling … and (Vince) Vance. It could be any one of those four.”
My early money is on Tripp as the only player Richt identified by first name. I'm almost tired of the subject. You know you're under a microscope when your O-Line personnel gets more pub than possible Vic6e President nominees.
Incidentally, Blutarsky writes,
"David Hale thinks the Kiante Tripp move to left tackle is a one week special to keep the place warm until Clint Boling returns from suspension. Who knows? All I can say is In Searels We Trust."
III. The Enemy's Take
There is a pretty fair critique over at the Orange and Blue Hue. He drills down into our schedule pretty good. Here's the thing and I can't say I haven't thought about this too. For the whole article: http://www.orangeandbluehue.com/2008/08/16/delusions-of-grandeur/
Georgia does not have to go undefeated to play for a National Title, far from it. Florida won theirs in 2006 with one loss while LSU won theirs in 2007 with TWO losses. But playing for a BCS Championship with two losses is a feat still only accomplished once . . . last year! Georgia would definitely have to win the SEC East and SEC Championship to do that. I could see a one loss team getting to the BCS Championship game should the cards fall right but it’s hard to envision a scenario where Georgia could accomplish that scenario. In the loaded SEC East even a single loss could cost the Bulldogs a trip to the SEC Championship Game. It would preferably be an early season loss to be safe (aka not Florida in November) which would likely mean either South Carolina or Tennessee. And although it COULD be done quite easily in theory I’m not going to get drowned in the details because I am warning you. . . it won’t happen.
IV. More Enemy
Anyone else find themselves strangely intrigued by this Georgia Tech offense? I'm reading the paper this morning and saw where they will be broadcast by ESPN360, an internet only broadcast, and I'm thinking I might actually go somewhere and watch this thing. (Comcast doesn't subscribe to the service) Then again, it could be simply that I'll take any football I can get and this is a Thursday night game.
V. Serious X's and O's
This guy is unbelieveable. However, he lost me soon after hello. http://smartfootball.blogspot.com/
VI. CBS and start times
CBS just signed a deal to do SEC games for the next 15 years. THIS year, they could rightly be named the UGA network.

VII. Gordo is a pro
Gordon Beckham took some time off but has now reported to Class A (White Sox) Kannapolis. Georgia's single-season and career home run leader went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double and two runs in an 11-3 on Friday. Pretty good start, I'd say.
VIII. Knowshon as a pro?
He'd be eligible after this year. One opinion lets you and me rest a little easier.
"There's no doubt in my mind that this boy will stay at UGA until he graduates," said Dr. Jean D'Arcy Maculaitis, who runs a testing center in New Jersey that Moreno attended when he was in high school.
"I don't think he'll do the redshirt year (2010) but I think after he graduates in four years then he will leave. He will not stay for an extra year. He will be there to graduate. It's always been about academics with him."
Ah, a voice of reason.
"Let's live that experience," Richt said. "You want to make memories in life. Making memories, the older I get, the more I realize how important they really are. That's what these guys need to do. Enjoy this thing and make memories and then figure out what to do afterwards."
IX. Always good for a laugh
The Ol' Ball Coach cracks me up.
Following Saturday's scrimmage, Spurrier hinted that walk-on Zac Brindise, and not Garcia, might be considered the third-string quarterback behind Tommy Beecher and Chris Smelley.
Pretty sweet. But that's not even the funny part.
Considering the Floridian's off-the-field travails since arriving a year and a half ago, and the supposed cleaning up of his act, Spurrier still seems irked by Garcia's attitude and slowness to learn.
Just Friday, Garcia was the only player to miss a team breakfast.
"Oh, he's missed a bunch of them," Spurrier said Saturday. "He misses everything. He's struggling to do things right. But that's just him. He can't hardly call the play right. He gets confused. I don't know what it is. He just has a tough time."
X. CB
And finally, it appears a lot of my hand-wringing over the CB position was for naught.
Cornerback might be Georgia's deepest position on the team with five players in serious competition for snaps.
Thorpe Trophy candidate Asher Allen leads the group along with fellow returning starter Prince Miller. Former starters Ramarcus Brown and Bryan Evans are also back along with sophomore Vance Cuff.
"We've got a lot of guys who are trying to compete and make each other better," Brown said. "The more comfortable the coaches feel with guys, the better they feel when they get the rotation going. If you go out and make some plays out there and show what you can do, you'll get a chance to play, if not at corner then on special teams."
Special teams might be the first place for projected reserves like Brown, Evans and Cuff can shine. Working on returns and coverages are a source of pride for the reserve corners.
"Special teams are very important," Brown said. "That's where games are won and lost. That's what the coaches preach day-in and day-out. Special teams wins the close games. Field position is important so we've got to excel at returning kicks and covering kicks."

Just wondering if Richt didn't call Kiante by his first name to avoid confusion with Chandler (another Tripp).
