With Stafford and Moreno gone all is not lost for the Dawgs. We have a seasoned QB in Cox waiting to pull a Shockley and 2 highly rated Freshmen coming in to learn the ropes behind him. Samuels CAN learn to hold onto the ball, and while we've yet to see it on this level, Caleb has great running ability as well. Washaun will soon join the stable, but currently he needs a little help with his SAT scores. Most would say that we had the best Freshman WR in the nation this year, and Green will mature and eventually leave us early as well.
We also look to have an experienced and prayerfully, healthy O-line returning, and we've recruited DEs and DTs like madmen this year.
As an aside...I looked at the NFL Draft Projections on rivals/scout.com and observed something that probably has never happened before. UGA is sending out the projected #1 QB, #1 RB, and #1 FB into the NFL. Amazing! http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&p=9&c=12&yr=2009&nid=83&lnid=124&rc=4&pid=10
Ellerbe is slated to be the #5 OLB, MoMass the #8 WR, and Corey Irvin the #17 DT. Not a bad crop. And while the Dawgs landed at #13 in the final AP Rankings, the Coaches poll put us at #10. A year that felt so bad, in retrospect, was not the disaster that my gut sometimes tries to convince me it was.
