I Caved

I said I was done with them after they treated Smoltz the way they did.....I said I wasn't going to watch them....that the only game I cared about was if they played Boston in inter-league play, then I hoped Smoltz pitched and Boston won 100 to nothing....and I meant it.........and yet at 8:00 lastnight I was parked in front of the television and didn't move for two and half hours.

Damn you Braves and the spell you have over me!!!

I didn't think they treated Smoltz wrong. Would you give a guy guranteed money if he couldn't even gurantee he could pitch for you in 2009.

That was a great game last night. Gotta admit, I'm right back where i was last spring. Lowe looks really good. Bullpen guy almost ticked me off but got the W and I hate the Phillies.

Love the all blue uniforms too and the addition of the all blue helmet. Wish we would make that the permanent road uniform as it looks so much better than the gray.

I hated to see him go, but Smoltz may be entering that Michael Jordan mode. He will still dazzle and amaze on occasion when he is well enough, but sadly he will go out a mediocre and fading player due to sticking around 1 season too long.

Last night Lowe was dominant and the bats were thumping. Great to see Jordan Schafer come out on fire. Management looked good bringing in Lowe, Chipper has his dependable stroke, McCann and Francouer are no longer wet behind the ears, and Schafer looks like a phenom.

And yes, I like the blue. Are those jerseys in stores yet?

I bought a solid blue hat last year, just looks really classy. Jeebs assessment of Smoltz is right on ... and the Red Sox are a perfect fit for him. He'll probably struggle getting a ton of innings but will come up with some amazing outing in the postseason. Sadly, a huge win, in a world series or say, against the Yankees, and Smoltz's legacy could be altered forever in another jersey.

Your talking about a guy who gave everything he had to that organization....did whatever was asked of him and always left everything he had on the field....so in the case of John Smoltz...you bet your red haired arse I would have because when has that guy ever phoned it in. We wouldn't have had to pay him what Boston paid him....he would have stayed for less.

And I agree with Jeebs and Toom....the blue unis and awesome...and I love the helmets. Next hat I buy will be the all blue one.

We did offer him less money. He didn't take. I love the blue Uniforms as well...If Smoltz stinks it up for Boston, I am right. If he kills it, I am wrong. My question is where do we have a spot for him in the rotation?

At the time, you're right...we don't seem to have a place right now....I'd just still love to have him.
