As the Dawgs crumble...

While most of the PRF faithful suffer in Jax, I am here on the couch watching our boys crumble. About 11 min. left, 39+ for the bad guys, and I thought I'd give some perspective.

Being down 2/3+ TDs makes a team press and it has gotten ugly since that happened. It would be easy to just write this off as a blowout and that UF was better. I'm not so sure. Some things are much clearer in instant replay.

Tebow was stopped short by about a yard and a half, for what should have been a punting 4th down. To the disbelief of the telecasters, the officials gave them the first down and let the play stand. No explanation for this whatsoever. It wasn't just me, the boys in the booth were shocked, because every angle showed him to be well short of the mark. It's clear our boys don't put things like this behind them well. Within 3 plays, Harvin was in our zone. 7 Points.

Staffords first interception was almost returned, resulting in 7. Replays showed a clear hold by the defense, disrupting the route and putting the DB in position for the INT. 7 Points.

From the stands the next TD made you take Asher's name in vain, but as one Christian to another, I think Tebow should publicly apologize and have the TD expunged from his stats due to the overt rule violation by the receiver. He literally grabbed Asher and used him to sling-shot himself down the field. 7 Points.

Everything after this was a result of trying to force points, and it just got ugly from there.

Yeah, I know, sour grapes. I'll take it.

Hey, way to go Joe Cox. Imagine someone throwing to the TE and scoring!?! Vern and the boys in the booth showed earlier that only 3% of Staffords completions have been to TEs this year. I've seen 3 today, for good gains at critical times. Maybe Bobo will pick up on this and include them as they get healthy.

Just a few observations as we head to the Outback Bowl...

It's great to hit 60 yard field goals, but you've got to hit the 35 yarders.

It's great to put 3 points on the board, but we've got to put the ball in the zone for 7.

The onsides attempt was clever, but I think it communicates that we don't think we can win a head to head match.

Urban- your timeout with 30 seconds left was tacky, and I think you realized it when you met Coach Richt at mid-field.

We must focus on DL, OL, and DB recruits this off-season. No matter how good a QB you cannot allow him to be hit again and again. The DL has got to get pressure somehow. The blown coverages are still unacceptable, even when you are down 35.

Tebow's impressive. He is. But UF's offense is not preparing him for the NFL.

Lastly, my personal observation...I cannot stand when a QB comes to the line, begins his count, and then he looks to his coaches to call his audible. How Pony-League! Stafford has learned the game such that he recognizes defenses and calls his own. Who would you say is ready to play when he moves on to the pro-ranks?
